Me: Morgan, please don't stand up in your chair. You need to make a good choice and obey with a happy heart.
Morgan (with a most pathetic face and a whiny voice): But Mommy, I can't do that.
Me: Umm, and why??
Morgan: I can't because I'm NOT feeling very happy right now.
(How do you not chuckle at that?)
Later in the day when I praised her for choosing to obey, she said, "I can obey because Jesus came from Heaven to take away my badness." (In her Bible story book, the Christmas story has a part that says God sent Jesus to earth as a baby to take away people's badness.) At least she is paying attention and seems to grasp at least in part what that means.....
